Monday Money Saving Wedding Ideas - Venues!

There are some gorgeous wedding ideas that can contribute to a fabulous wedding on a shoestring budget.

While we're planning our wedding, the realization of how much money we need to save each month for our "budget" really brings things in perspective.

Tip #1
City or County Parks and Recreation

One of the things that has been really appealing is utilizing the resources available with the local park and recreations in our area, and from what I've found are also available in most cities and counties.

For example, we've been thinking about the Aviary for our wedding reception venue in Lynchburg, VA.  While we've looked at other locations with a rental fee of around $1200 to $1500, the Aviary that is owned and operated by our city has a rental fee of $250.00!  That's a huge savings!

In Fairfax County located in Northern Virginia, the parks and recreation has eight properties that are available for weddings.  Most are historic properties that have been fully renovated, and would be a great venue for receptions or wedding ceremonies.  They even have a one room chapel called Wakefield Chapel in Annanadale, VA!  It will hold 75 people in the pews, and additional 25 with added chairs that can be provided by them.  It's a classic white chapel tucked away in a residential area.  It's very charming.  During one of our recent trips there we were able to see it, and took a few pictures.

Tip #2
Restaurants

Another option, that would be great is a nice restaurant that is large enough to support your wedding party.  I've found that some have been having more requests for either catering or actual receptions.  With those locations already professional decorated and fully stocked with the essential items like china and glassware it makes it an economical solution.  Plus another bonus is that the restaurant has the tables, chairs, and servers available without an additional fee.   So don't forget to check out your favorite restaurant, too!

Tip #3
Friends or Family Homes

If you are fortunate to have family or friends with a house and yard that can accommodate your wedding, and they are willing, then this could be a huge wedding present!  The only drawbacks that I've found with this is that while you'll be saving money on the venue rental fee, other items like table, chairs, tents, glassware, china, catering, decoration, etc. can add up quickly, and cause a lot of stress for you and the generous family and friends whom will be supporting you with this idea.  After all, this will be at someone's home, and they'll be overloaded with guests, whom will no doubt have to use the restrooms, and will be trampling over their property.  If you have someone so generous, and can figure out a way to limit the stress of their gift, then it would still be a great idea.
