Timberlake Tavern - Lynchburg, VA
What can I say about Timberlake Tavern, but I love it! It's the perfect size for a small wedding, or up to 170 people. It's quaint, rustic, and charming all rolled up into one.
With Timberlake Tavern you won't get the stuffy reception from the wedding planner, and staff. Instead you'll be welcomed into this charming venue with a warm homey feeling. The manager, Lisa is wonderful. She understands how much goes into a wedding, and wants to keep things as simple and carefree as possible. From the basic ceremony and reception to the most elaborate, I was really impressed in how carefree and easy the planning would be.
Also, another thing that really impressed me with this venue was how much care they took while restoring it. You see, Timberlake Tavern hasn't always been in it's current state. The story which I'll shorten goes back to the 1920's when the community around Timberlake Lake was a resort, and the tavern was the clubhouse. At the time the area around the lake was a golf course. Over the years, the land was sold off, and homes were built. The resort obviously closed, and the Tavern was left to fend for itself. From what I understand, it's been used for a number of things including a apartment building.
A few years ago, and a couple whom lives in the close knit community of Timberlake, realized that the old building was up for auction. They purchased the building, and started the restoration. The result is a beautiful building that would be perfect for any type of event or corporate meeting.

The night we went to take a look at the Tavern, I took a few pictures with my cell phone. The picture quality isn't the best, but you can still see the gorgeous wood floors and the beautiful fireplaces.
A few days later, we were invited to a tasting that they had. Since they do all of the catering and my fiance is a chef it was important to us to try the food. I'm so happy that we did, because the food did not disappoint.
While looking online I found a few great pictures of the front porch. It was so cold the day we went to the tasting that I forgot to get pictures of the wrap around porch.
